Join DC archaeologists in making your own corn husk doll! Corn husk dolls were an important part of play and learning for Native American children in areas where corn was grown. Corn was a staple crop and served many purposes as it still does today.

Visitors will design and craft their own doll while also learning about how objects would have been fashioned together using native plants and other organic materials.

Archaeologists will share how our science contributes to our understanding of the District’s Algonquian speaking people, community, and landscapes before European contact.

This activity is free and we encourage registration so we can have enough materials prepared for everyone who wants to participate.
