Description of Pieces: “Option 1:
Helix is an ongoing, interactive site-specific installation based on a love of forts and line drawings. There have now been nine incarnations in different spaces since 2017. Each time, the artist sets the rope pattern and then invites participants to play, to take up fabric and tie it to the growing structure. At the end of the event, it comes down and fits in a suitcase. Artist can connect the rope to either screw hooks, weights, or removable command hooks.
Fabric colors can be decided upon between the business and artist.

Artist Biography: “Elizabeth Ashe is a sculptor and poet, who earned her MFA from the Mount Royal School of Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and an MFA in creative writing from Chatham University. Her public art projects have recently been on view apart of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in 2022 and 2021, Bemidji Sculpture Walk, the Troy Sculpture Walk, Sukkahwood Festival, and Art All Night DC. Her work is included in Studio Visit Magazine, issue 46.
In 2019, she curated “”Play, Protection, or Peril,”” a project partially funded by a grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH), for which she and two artists were interviewed for on the Kojo Nnamdi Show. She received the Exhibition Grant from CAH for 2020 for “Not So Concrete,” and an Arts and Humanities Fellowship Grant for 2021 and 2022. She served as a juror for CAH’s first Juried Exhibition Grant this year. Ashe lives in Washington, D.C., where she has an active studio practice. She is the Gallery Manager for DC Arts Center, and Exhibit & Event Technician at the Katzen Center, American University.
